Gary Shepard, everything except ... Cliff Dyches, vocal Rockette Morton, bass guitar

GS: I will admit I was never a fan of this song as originally recorded. I found the original a bit harsh, dark in nature, and almost unfriendly to the ears. That’s why I decided to undertake this revision. I wanted to let the listener appreciate the wonderful blues undertone I instinctively felt was there. I thus purposely made it bluesier, gave it a different groove, changed the chordal structure, and attacked the guitar parts with utmost respect to Trower’s awesome playing, while imbuing it with my own spirit. I am very pleased with the results, as I hope you listeners will be also.

I asked Rockette Morton (celebrated bass player from Captain Beefheart’s Magic Band, a standup guy, and a man I happily call my friend) to play bass for this track. He embellished in splendid fashion from my demo bass line. Last I added the vocals of Cliff Dyches, a very talented vocalist/guitarist in his own right. I am indebted to these great gentlemen. I think this track will stand quite nicely as a good blues tune and I hope it brings pleasure to listeners everywhere. I hope Procol Harum themselves appreciate the fresh face and interpretation I have put on this song.

Shure SM 58 microphone, Paul Reed Smith guitar, Roland Cube 60 guitar amp, Boss BR-1600 digital recorder,
Yamaha Motif ES-8 keyboard. Rockette Morton used a Carvin 5-string bass
